Independent broadband guidance for self-hosters US DATASET
About

Broadband for people who run things.

IndieIP evaluates broadband as infrastructure for self-hosting, not just as a pipe for consuming the Internet.

Broadband judged for a different job

Most broadband comparisons are built around download speed, price and household entertainment. IndieIP looks at the connection from the other direction: can you run services from it, can those services be reached, and can the line send data out reliably?

What we assess

Reachability

Public addressing, CGNAT and port forwarding determine whether an ordinary inbound connection can reach your network.

Outbound capacity

Upload speed and symmetry matter when your server is sending files, media, backups, VPN traffic or web content.

Network flexibility

IPv6, prefix delegation, router control and related features can make a connection substantially more useful to self-hosters.

Service terms

A technically capable line is not enough if the relevant residential product restricts the server use you need.

Independent by design

Provider rankings and technical verdicts are based on the connection characteristics IndieIP assesses. Affiliate relationships do not change those judgments.
